Lynn Headwaters access road is temporarily closed, effective December 1, 2016
In the interest of public safety, we are closing the access road to Lynn Headwaters Regional Park to vehicles, effective December 1, 2016.
Hikers and cyclists will still be permitted.
Why we're closing the road
The access road, which cuts through steep slopes, is deteriorating and at risk of landslide.
Regular maintenance is no longer enough to keep the road safe. Major mitigation work will be necessary to stabilize the slope below the road.
Using the park while the road is closed
To accommodate those who still wish to drive to the park, we are implementing temporary, time-limited (two hour) parking on a few local streets near the access road, as shown on this map.
You can also find information about alternate parking options and other park access points, on Metro Vancouver's website.
Developing a plan for reopening the road
The road will remain closed until a long-term plan to repair it has been identified and implemented. Because the park is owned and managed by Metro Vancouver, we are working with them on that solution.
