Previous updates

Thursday, January 18, 4:45pm

Snow is expected to start a transition to rain this evening, but there is a chance of freezing rain.

Crews worked on clearing our priority 3 routes today and got 75% of them done. However, this afternoon’s snowfall meant they needed to turn their attention back to priority 1 and 2 routes and hills.

Current road conditions:

* Priority 1 routes are 100% clear

* Priority 2 routes are 100% clear

* Priority 3 routes are 75% clear

As of this afternoon, about 75% of sidewalks and drop off areas are completed in school zones. Crews have also cleared 25% of our priority 1 route sidewalks and about 50% of our multi-use pathways.

The temperatures are increasing, which means salt will be more effective and helpful.

We will provide a final update for the day at approximately 7pm this evening.

Wednesday, January 17, 2:35pm

As snow continues to fall in the District, our Snow Command team is on the road 24/7, clearing snow from our major arterial streets.

Consider only essential travel at this time until conditions improve. If you are travelling, please give snowplows plenty of patience and distance on the road.

While our Streets team focuses on roads, Parks department crews are busy clearing and salting sidewalks, bike lanes, paths and other spots.

Once conditions have stabilized on priority one and two streets, crews will attempt to clear local streets.

The snowfall has impacted transit, and some routes have been cancelled or modified. Please visit TransLink’s webpage for service updates
