Holiday recycling tips

Looking for ways to be "green" over the holidays? Here are a few tips to help you reduce your environmental footprint this holiday season, courtesy of our solid waste team.

Disposing your tree

To dispose of your tree curbside, cut it into small pieces and place them in your organics cart. Uncut, snow-flocked, and frosted trees will not be collected.

If you'd like to let the wood chipper do all the work, you can bring your tree to a local chip-up event or the North Vancouver transfer station at 30 Riverside Dr. where a tipping fee applies.

Recycling light strings

You can recycle burned out light strings for free at participating drop off locations.

Recycling wrapping and tissue paper

Before placing wrapping and tissue paper in your yellow recycling bag, check and make sure it's 100% paper. Unlike office paper, some gift wraps contain heavy inks, glitter, or foil that cannot be recycled.
