District Hall closed Sept 30 for National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On Friday, September 30, 2022, District Hall will be closed for business to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

As we observe this day of commemoration, we will offer limited services, which includes collecting garbage and organics in Zone 2.

This new federal statutory holiday is to commemorate the survivors of residential schools, their families and their communities and the children who never returned home.

We are observing this day as part of our ongoing commitment to truth and reconciliation. We encourage everyone to take time to learn and reflect on the history and ongoing legacy of the residential school system and to honour those who were and continue to be affected by it.

The District is committed to implementing the Truth and Reconciliation Commission Calls to Action specific to municipalities. Recognizing this day of commemoration is a response to Call to Action #80.
