DNV receives federal funding for EV chargers

The District will soon add 10 new electric vehicle charging stations thanks to new federal funding through Natural Resources Canada’s Zero-Emission Vehicle Infrastructure Program.

The funding of approximately $140,000, combined with $50,000 from the province’s CleanBC Go Electric Program will help pay for adding eight Level 2 and two Level 3 charging stations.

The District applied for funding from the federal and provincial governments through the Zero Emissions Vehicle Infrastructure Program (ZEVIP) to support the purchase and installation of electric vehicle charging stations for public use.

The federal investment of around $19 million announced today will fund up to 2,416 EV chargers across Canada, with nearly 1,880 being installed in the Greater Vancouver area. Through its CleanBC Go Electric Program, the provincial government also provided $2.2 million toward Level 3 public chargers to be installed in the province.
