DNV recognizes National Indigenous Peoples Day

Today, the DNV recognizes National Indigenous Peoples Day and honours the culture and history of local First Nations, the xʷməθkʷəy̓əm (Musqueam), Sḵwx̱wú7mesh (Squamish) and səl̓ilwətaʔɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) Nations, and all Indigenous communities.

For the entire month of June, National Indigenous History Month has been dedicated to the missing children, the families left behind, and residential school survivors.

The District is committed to meaningful action and, as a first step, will begin a series of educational opportunities for Council, executive, and staff starting in the fall of this year.
