Mayor's statement: Investigation of St. Paul’s Indian Residential School

Today, Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh Nations announced an investigation at the former St. Paul's Indian Residential School site in North Vancouver.

I fully support this investigation. As I’ve said before, it’s time to get the full story on each of these facilities – including St. Paul’s Indian Residential School.

The dark history of the residential school system continues to have devastating impacts on First Nation and Indigenous communities across the country. My thoughts are with the many living survivors in our community and their families who continue to deal with the trauma caused by the residential school system.
