Remembering the 215 children whose remains were found at Kamloops residential school

Flags at District Hall and the Operations Centre are at half-mast in memory of the 215 children whose remains were found at the Kamloops Indian Residential School, and for the many more who suffered at these institutions.

"I am shocked by this horrifying discovery, and my heart goes out to the people of Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc First Nation and all Indigenous communities that are still hurting from the devastating impact of residential schools," said Mayor Mike Little. "This discovery is a painful reminder of the dark history of the residential school system. It is time to get the full story on each of these facilities, including St. Paul’s Indian Residential School in North Vancouver."

A national Indian Residential School Crisis Line is available to provide support for former students and those affected: 1-866-925-4419.
