Update on the Mt. Seymour brush fire (July 14)

Thanks to the hard work of crews from BC Wildfire, Metro Vancouver and DNV Fire & Rescue Services, the brush fire in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve is now considered 'held.' This means that it is not expected to spread under the current conditions. 

Crews from Metro Vancouver and DNVFRS remain on site working on targeting hot spots and identifying and removing dangerous trees. 

There continues to be no risk to public safety. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Crews remained on the scene this afternoon as efforts continued to suppress the brush fire in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve.

Crews from BC Wildfire, Metro Vancouver and District of North Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services hiked into the remote location where the fire is to target hot spots and identify and fall dangerous trees. Two helicopters have been in the area today supporting crews with fire suppression.

There continues to be no risk to public safety or residential areas at this time, and the cause of the fire is unknown.

Metro Vancouver firefighters are back on the scene of the brush fire in Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve this morning.

District of North Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services is also on scene and is ready to assist. Currently, there is still no risk to public safety or to residential areas.

The aerial response to the brush fire burning in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve on Mt. Seymour has effectively reduced the fire's intensity so far.

Smoke is still reported as visible across the North Shore and Metro Vancouver, yet it is lighter and less intense. BC Wildfire and Metro Vancouver firefighting activities continue with District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services ready to deploy crews as needed.

There is a brush fire currently burning in the Lower Seymour Conservation Reserve.

District of North Vancouver Fire & Rescue Services is assisting BC Wildfire Service and Metro Vancouver in fighting the fire.

Helicopters are dropping buckets of water on the fire. No homes are in danger at this time.
