WildSafeBC community coordinator joins the District

The District is pleased to welcome Anna Howard as its WildSafeBC community coordinator.

During a six-month partnership program with the BC Conservation Foundation, Anna will work closely with the District and the community on reviewing the current DNV bear hazard assessment and human-bear conflict management plans. The District is strongly supportive of taking actions to reduce human-bear conflicts and becoming a Bear Smart Community.

From May 17 to November 30, Anna will participate in human-bear conflict working groups and seek feedback from the community. Later in the season, Anna will also be involved in other educational activities such as wildlife awareness and safety workshops. These activities will include other species we may encounter, including cougars, raccoons, skunks and even rats.

WildSafeBC is the provincial leader in preventing conflict with wildlife through collaboration, education and community solutions and is delivered by the BC Conservation Foundation in communities across BC.
