Notices

Earlier today, the District was notified of the tragic news of the Lynn Valley care home resident who passed away from COVID-19. Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones during this sad time, and we send them our condolences.

The District was made aware of the outbreak at a care home in Lynn Valley this morning, where two residents and one caregiver have tested positive for COVID-19. The District is being guided by local, provincial, and federal health authorities who are working hard to contain this outbreak.

The Lynn Canyon suspension bridge re-opened on February 15 following maintenance work. Starting February 18, we're replacing the staircase to Twin Falls. To allow for construction, the west side access trail to Twin Falls bridge is closed.

To improve water drainage at Lynn Canyon Park, we're performing utility work from February 10 - 13. During this time, the park is closed to vehicles. Staff are onsite to re-direct pedestrians to access the park.

From February 7 - 28, 2020, we're installing a temporary watermain along Dollarton Hwy between Riverside Dr and Highway 1. Overnight construction work will take place from 7pm - 6am to facilitate the installation.

As the snow and icy conditions remain in high elevation areas throughout the District, crews have made the decision to close the Mount Fromme parking lot due to safety concerns. With rain in the forecast, we anticipate the parking lot will reopen this Saturday, February 8.

Live in Zone 5? Due to the snow, our crews are collecting garbage first and will not be collecting organics. If your waste is not collected today, please set it out on your next collection day. Recycling will be collected weather permitting. If your recycling is not collected today, pick up will shift to Wednesday or the following collection day.

Due to the recent snowfall, Lynn Canyon Park is closed to both pedestrians and vehicles until further notice. A reminder that the Lynn Canyon suspension bridge remains closed for maintenance and to replace the decking.

Yesterday, Saturday, February 1, District crews were onsite fixing a significant watermain break in Upper Lynn Valley at Ramsay Rd and Coleman St. Due to the break, Ramsay Rd is closed at Coleman St until further notice.

Heavy rains and high winds in the forecast have prompted a rainfall warning. A reminder to avoid small creeks, culverts, and rivers, and maintain a safe distance from moving water.
