News and status updates
Public opening - April 2022
The new Lions Gate Community Recreation Centre opened its doors to the public on April 20, 2022.
Details
The centre is located within the new LARCO residential development that is being built just west of Capilano Road, between Curling Road and Fullerton Avenue.
The front doors of the centre will face out to a new pedestrian friendly street and outdoor public plaza, which is being built between the north and south buildings of the new residential development.
The public plaza will offer both programmed events, and areas for people to sit, to gather, and to connect with friends and neighbours.

Available services
The community recreation centre will be the new home for Capilano Community Services Society, which is currently located in the north building of the former Delbrook Community Recreation Centre (Old Delbrook). They will provide youth and senior services to the community.
The Red Cross will move their lending centre — a community based medical equipment loan program — to the new centre along with Capilano Community Services Society.
Programming at the centre
North Vancouver Recreation and Culture will operate this District-owned facility, and will work with North Vancouver District Public Libraries and Capilano Community Services Society to provide a wide array of recreation, cultural, and community services to the public.
Visiting the centre
As the centre will be conveniently located within the pedestrian and cycling friendly centre of the village, it will be easily accessible for area residents without requiring a car.
However, if you do need to drive to the centre, 55 parking stalls will be provided in the underground parkade specifically for the centre, and patrons will also have access to additional general visitor parking for the residential complex, bringing the potential available parking spaces to 115.
Background
About Lions Gate Village
Lions Gate Village is a vibrant, pedestrian-oriented neighbourhood, with local-serving businesses, jobs, a community recreation centre, and a mix of housing options for residents at every stage of life.
The Village serves as a gateway into the District, thanks to its unique location at the edge of our boundary, near Lions Gate Bridge.
By building on its natural setting near the Capilano River, its easy access to transit, and its proximity to commercial properties on Marine Drive, we are creating a more vibrant and complete community.
