Adopt a Street Program

We work with community members to keep our roadsides litter-free, through our Adopt a Street program.

How the program works

When you adopt a street, you agree to pick up litter on that street at least once a month (or as needed). You also agree to report vandalism and graffiti to the program coordinator.

We give volunteers litter collection kits, which include:

  • garbage tongs
  • kitchen tongs for children
  • high visibility vests
  • disposable gloves

We also arrange pick-ups if you collect large amounts of garbage.

Program benefits

This is a great opportunity for community associations, local businesses, schools, sports teams, individuals, and families to make a difference in our local community. You can even challenge and inspire other groups or neighbours to see who can keep the cleanest street.

When you adopt a street, you can:

  • build a stronger sense of community in your neighbourhood
  • get to know your neighbours
  • improve your street
  • reduce litter, vandalism, and crime in your area
