2580 Capilano Road - Veterinary hospital and DNV animal shelter

Salal Architecture has submitted a detailed development permit application to build a veterinary clinic and emergency animal hospital. The building will also include the District of North Vancouver's animal shelter.

The proposed building has:

  • two storeys
  • approximately 15,00 square feet (which includes 1,400 square feet for the animal shelter)
  • 21 parking stalls in a mix of underground and surface parking
  • access from Capilano Road

The development and building permit for this development have been approved, and construction is now underway.

June 2016 — Building permit

Staff are currently reviewing the building permit application for this project.

November 2, 2015 - Development permit

Council voted to issue a development permit for this application.

September 23, 2015 — Public information meeting

The applicant is hosting a public information meeting to answer questions and gather feedback from residents. Staff will include the feedback in a report to Council.

The panel will review revisions to the design that they requested following their first review on July 9, 2015.

The panel reviewed and supported the project. However, they requested some architectural changes, which they will review at a subsequent meeting.

Current land use designation

The Official Community Plan designates the site as Commercial Residential Mixed Use Level 1 (CRMU1). The property is zoned C3.  The project is consistent with the OCP and Zoning Bylaw.
