Drinking water quality

We receive all of our treated drinking water from the Greater Vancouver Water District (GVWD). It comes from two sources: the Capilano Reservoir and the Seymour Reservoir via the Seymour-Capilano Filtration Plant.

The GVWD and its member municipalities (including the District) have adopted a multi-barrier approach to reducing the risk of water borne infections, which includes:

  • watershed protection
  • treatment
  • distribution system maintenance
  • water quality monitoring

Our water quality reporting

Since 2001, Vancouver Coastal Health's Medical Health Officer for the North Shore has requested formal annual water quality reports from us.

These reports include information about:

  • bacteriological quality
  • physical parameters
  • chemical parameters
  • operator training and certification

Submitting an annual report is a condition of our permit to operate.
