Poverty Reduction Strategy
The District of North Vancouver, City of North Vancouver, District of West Vancouver, Squamish Nation, Tsleil-Waututh Nation, and the Poverty Reduction Task Force worked together to create a Poverty Reduction Strategy for the North Shore.
With financial support from provincial grant funding, this important initiative builds from TogetherBC, British Columbia’s first Poverty Reduction Strategy.

What is the purpose of this?
The purpose of the strategy is to build a movement to address poverty at the local level. While many not-for-profit organizations and public service agencies have been working to support the community, the strategy represents a multi-jurisdictional approach to future poverty reduction efforts.
How was the strategy informed?
To inform the strategy, the project team researched existing policies and initiatives, and conducted targeted engagement. Over 200 participants were engaged, including representatives from the social services sector and people with lived experience with poverty.
