New neighbourhood park on former Delbrook Lands

We're moving forward with work for a new neighbourhood park on the northern portion of the land previously occupied by the old Delbrook Community Centre.

The new park will provide accessible recreation and sports amenities, including a playground, spray park, small pump track, sports court, washrooms, picnic and gathering areas, and open grass areas. The daycare and tennis courts located on the site will remain open, including during construction.

The park plan is based on input we received during public consultation for the overall Delbrook Lands planning project, and considers these factors:

  • Existing site conditions and environment
  • Community input on preferred uses and amenities
  • District park planning objectives

The park will be located in the portion of the old Delbrook Lands on the north side of the four-story building designated for social housing, which is currently under construction.

Project updates

Initial site preparation — February 22, 2024

Initial site preparations for the new neighbourhood park at Delbrook start today with some hazard tree removals. These are largely dead or dying trees that pose a risk to public safety and trees that need to be cleared to prepare the site. Park construction is on track to begin this summer.

Timeline for park construction — June, 2023

Demolition of the buildings on site is now complete. The daycare and tennis courts will remain open this summer while staff complete the final park designs. Park construction is expected to begin in 2024.
