William Griffin turf replacement
The artificial turf field at William Griffin will be replaced this summer. Construction will take five to six months and is expected to be completed in late 2023.
Why are we replacing the field now?
William Griffin is one of the District’s highest-use fields for year-round play and is used for soccer, field hockey, football and other sports.
The existing turf surface has reached its 10-year end-of-life cycle and can no longer be maintained to offer optimal playing conditions.
Repeated and frequent repairs and other signs of the field’s age have started to show, and replacing it now is necessary to avoid the continued worsening of the field condition.
This field is also subject to frequent flooding in the rainy seasons, so the field drainage will be improved as part of this replacement work.
Please note that parking may be impacted during this project.
