Facilities, parks, and services impacted by COVID-19

While community recreation centres and libraries remain closed for now, parks — including facilities and parking lots — are being carefully reopened as it becomes safe to do so. District Hall is closed for most-in person visits, but staff is available to help you in a number of ways.

This page has information about:

Garbage, recycling, and organic waste collection services

We continue to collect garbage, organics, and reycling during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Please keep a distance of at least two metres from our collection crews and wait until after the truck departs to bring your emptied carts back in to help everyone stay safe.

Disposing hygiene products during the COVID-19 pandemic

To help protect worker safety, be sure to put used tissues, hygiene products, and medical waste in secure bags before putting them in your garbage (and keep them out of your blue box).

Facilities in parks

In line with recommendations of the local health authority, we gradually reopened outdoor facilities starting in early May. All parks and most park facilities are now open.

The concession at Cates Park will reopen starting June 27.

Sports fields

All District sports fields are closed to scheduled games and practices, but remain open for casual use.

Starting June 22, permits for youth baseball will be available. Under the permit, you can perform drills and skill development but no formal games. These restrictions are based on recommendations from ViaSport, the provincial body overseeing the process for sports to resume.
