Residential zoning: Learn the size, location, and dimensions of buildings permitted on any lot

Residential zoning helps define the total size of buildings you can put on your lot, as well as their dimensions, and where you can position them on the lot. 

You can get a general idea of what's permitted by checking which residential zone your property is in, and then referring to the related zoning bylaw information.

How to use this page

To find out what's allowed on a property:

  1. Find the property on the map, either by typing its address in the map's search bar, or zooming in on its location
  2. From the list of property information you'll see when you search, note the size (area) of the lot and its designated residential zoning
  3. Scroll down to the table below the map to look up how much you can build on the lot
