Statement regarding holiday lighting

During the November 23 special meeting, Council agreed to strike proposed bylaw amendments related to holiday lighting restrictions from the meeting agenda as a result of feedback from residents. None of the proposed changes to holiday lighting in the District were approved.

This area of concern originated from a series of public workshops in 2019. Council then directed staff to explore options for changes to District bylaws, policies, and regulations to address concerns and/or issues raised concerning standards and regulations in single-family zones.

Five areas related to single-family zones in the municipality were slated for discussion at the November 23 meeting, including retaining structures, height of accessory structures, nuisance lighting, nuisance noise, and landscape retention and hard surfaces.
