2017 Design Excellence and Heritage Award winners announced

This year's winners for both the 2017 Heritage Awards and the 2017 Design Excellence Awards were presented at a special ceremony at District Hall on Tuesday, March 13.

Advisory Design Panel Awards

Selected by the District’s Advisory Design Panel, this award recognizes projects that significantly contribute to the built environment (e.g. buildings, streets, open spaces, and infrastructure) of our community.

This year's award recipients

A 2017 Award of Excellence was presented for these projects:

  • Award of Excellence — Delbrook Community Recreation Centre, 851 W. Queens Road
  • Honourable Mention — "Walter's Place," 1325 Draycott Road

Community Heritage Awards

Chosen by the District’s Community Heritage Committee, the Heritage Awards honour special projects and accomplishments in the field of preservation and protection of heritage buildings.

This year's award recipients

A 2017 Community Heritage Award was presented for each of these projects:

  • Compatible New Design in a Heritage Context — 3623 Sunnycrest Drive
  • Restoration of Residential and Commercial Structures — 234 W. Windsor Road
  • Heritage Advocacy — North Vancouver Museum & Archives (NVMA) and their collaborators
  • Heritage Advocacy — Bob Muckle
