A virtual public panel event will be hosted on September 29 from 12:00pm to 1:30pm. The event will kick off a three-week challenge in which local groups will collaborate to generate innovative solutions for reusing and repurposing construction and demolition waste. This waste makes up one-third of the total waste in our region..

DNVFRS hosts wildfire training exercise

In mid-September, the District of North Vancouver Fire & Rescue Service (DNVFRS) staged a multi-agency exercise that simulated a wildfire burning at Rolf (Lost) Lake in the Seymour Watershed.

District to honour National Day for Truth and Reconciliation

On September 30, 2021, the District will be closed for business to recognize the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. As we observe this new statutory holiday, we will offer limited services, including garbage collection for Zone 3. The National Day for Truth and Reconciliation is to honour survivors of residential schools, their families and their communities. We are observing this day as part of our ongoing commitment to truth and reconciliation.

DNV and partners earn award for leadership in climate adaptation

We are pleased to announce that the District of North Vancouver and our partners have been recognized at the 2021 Climate & Energy Action Awards. The honour comes in the Climate Adaptation category for leadership in the North Shore Sea Level Rise Risk Assessment and Adaptive Management Strategy. The strategy was developed by the District, the City of North Vancouver, the District of West Vancouver, North Shore Emergency Management, the Port of Vancouver, and the Squamish Nation.

Container on street permit

You need a container permit to place a construction waste disposal bin or storage container on a District street in front of a single family home or business. 

Building zone permit

You need a temporary building zone permit to place site offices or containers, or store building materials or equipment, in any traffic lane, parking lane, alley, sidewalk, or boulevard next to a new development, a renovation, or a demolition site.

Temporary street use permit

You need a temporary street use permit if you're doing work that will temporarily obstruct all or a portion of any lane of traffic, parking lane, alley, sidewalk, or boulevard.
