High streamflow advisory
With heavy rain expected, a high streamflow advisory is in effect for the North Shore.
According to the BC River Forecast Centre, the combination of low elevation snowpack, warming temperatures, and heavy rainfall will result in rapid rises for creeks and rivers and possible flooding this week.
Our crews are preparing for the wet weather by clearing catch basins and culverts, and monitoring local creeks and rivers.
Here’s how you can stay safe:
- Use extreme caution around areas with fast-moving water, avoiding river and creek banks
- Keep pets leashed when near rising waterways
- Watch for slippery conditions as snow continues to melt
- Help clear debris and snow from catch basins in your neighbourhood to prevent localized flooding
