BC Assessment, the provincial Crown corporation that classifies and values properties in BC, has recently mailed out their 2016 assessment notices. These assessments reflect the value of all homes in the District as of July 1, 2015.

Between now and July 2016, the William Griffin artificial turf field and lower parking lot will be closed three times to allow for work on the facility parking lot. You will not be able to use the field or lower parking lot during these periods: December 19, 2015 - January 4, 2016 March 14-18, 2016 July 2-16, 2016 Check the current status of the playing field

The new Keith Road Bridge hit a major milestone today with the addition of the first steel girders for the new span over Lynn Creek. When completed, the new bridge will feature five lanes of traffic, as well as separated bike lanes and sidewalks on both sides. The bridge will lead to a more efficient commute, improve east-west connectivity, and improve safety for cyclists and pedestrians.

On November 16, your three North Shore municipalities will participate in a large scale emergency simulation that will include many agencies and will cover land, sea, and air. This event is being coordinated by your tri-municipal emergency agency, North Shore Emergency Management (NSEM) and will be the largest training exercise ever conducted on the North Shore. You may notice unusual activity which may include active emergency response vehicles, marine vessels, and helicopters. This is a drill and is not a cause for concern.

Recent rains and cooler temperatures means Metro Vancouver has returned to Stage 1 water restrictions.

Thanks to the recent increase in rain, combined with reduced demand due to Stage 3 restrictions, Metro Vancouver has returned watering restrictions to Stage 2.
